There’s a number of things happening in the near future we wanted to inform you about.
1. Recently, many neighbors received a notice in the mail for an impending Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for Walnut Canyon. Obviously, this is a concern as it means developers are still moving ahead. Adam and Susan Olson Davis are holding a neighborhood meeting tomorrow (Sunday 11/08/15) from 4pm to 6pm at their house to discuss what this means and steps we can take. Drinks and snacks will be available. NELA GreenSpace members will be their as well, so feel free to stop by. The address is 2447 Sundown Drive. If you have any issues or questions, Adam and Suzan can be reached HERE.
2. On top of this, a Notice of Preparation (NOP) has been sent out, which is different from an EIR. Basically this notice gives the community a chance to express all of our concerns when it comes to development in our neighborhood and canyons. However, these letters of concern have to be delivered by November 23rd. It’s EXTREMELY important that you come to the hike event on the 14th of November to find out what all of these recent events mean, and what actions we need to take. Even if you cannot actually hike the canyons earlier in the day, please meet us at the flat lots at the top of El Rosa Canyon at 4:00pm to get updates and find out what we can do.
3. For the November 14th hike event, we are looking for volunteers to help man tables, help supply information at the Crestmore Steps, direct traffic, etc, so if anyone is interested, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
It’s clear that things are moving forward fairly quickly, so it’s very important that we band together as a community and do everything we can to help keep our neighborhood beautiful. Look out for further posts/emails about these issues in the coming days/weeks, and hope to see you at the November 14th hike event!
